WHAT SETS US APART

a patio with chairs and a fire pit
Central Location

Located in the heart of historic downtown Beaufort, SC, our inn is set in a magical place, where the environment offers a spiritual experience and the stories shared across buildings and down cobblestone streets will reel you back in every time.

Locally Inspired Design

Our charming, expansive property is nestled beneath centuries-old live oak trees, and lined with historic buildings, each with its own story to tell, from the Main Inn and the Cottages to the Courtyard Guest Houses, Apartments, and Flats.

Immersive Lowcountry Spaces

Follow the brick-laid pathways, welcome the evening by a fire pit, and sit for a spell on your private balcony or on a rocking chair on the porch. From our front entrance to our courtyard gardens, all our spaces are designed to enjoy living at a slower pace.

Our History

Originally built in 1897, the Wallace Smith Mansion has been rooted in the Beaufort community for over 100 years. In 1920, it welcomed its first overnight guests, and in 1930 it was renamed The Beaufort Inn. Many changes have taken place over the years.
