The Sands Beach in Port Royal is a short 10 minute drive from The Beaufort Inn and is free and open to the public. This is known as more of a locals beach and it does have a boat ramp and boardwalk with a spectacular view.
This is a great beach for sunbathing and sharktooth hunting, however it is strongly recommended that you wear water-shoes when swimming, as there are more oysters and rocks at this beach than on Hunting Island.
Please note alcohol is prohibited and the Sands is only open from sunrise to sunset.
During spring, summer, and fall, the Port Royal Community Beer Garden is also located just before the boat ramp across from the entrance to the Sands Beach, and there’s usually always live music, a food truck, and locally brewed beer available.
