Beaufort Shrimp Festival

Many people believe there are just 4 seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall). Although technically correct, we’d be remiss if we left out Shrimp Season. Here in the lowcountry, Beaufort is home to the freshest seafood around and as Bubba would put it, “shrimp is the fruit of the sea.”

With so many ways to cook shrimp, it’s no wonder it’s a global favorite! Even though Shrimp is a known dish to many, it’s very rare that the food you’re eating at dinner or buy from the grocery store has been caught in the back yard of the city you’re eating it in. Beaufort’s Shrimp literally goes from Tide to Table and it simply cannot get fresher than that. 

History of Shrimp Festival: To celebrate our local culinarians who cook up the most delicious Shrimp Styled Recipes, the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce hosts the Annual Shrimp Festival typically the first weekend of October. Normally, there are several food vendors setup in the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park with several appetizer sized samplers for you to choose from. For the safety of everyone during this unprecedented time, Beaufort’s Shrimp Festival has been reimagined this year.

Shrimp Festival 2020: Due to limitations on large gatherings and concerns about public health during the COVID19 pandemic, the Beaufort Shrimp Festival is being reimagined for 2020!

Instead of a single weekend event, Shrimp Festival Season will celebrate the fall shrimp season and highlight the region’s culinary traditions spanning three weeks, from September 18th through October 4th, 2020.

The Beaufort Inn Participates in Shrimp Festival by hosting Garden Parties

In times of disruption, businesses have found unique ways to adapt and people remain optimistic and resilient. Through adaptation, ingenuity, and strategic partnerships, The Beaufort Inn is hosting a series of Garden Parties as part of Beaufort’s Re-Imagined Shrimp Festival.

The Beaufort Inn’s Tabby Garden, located in the heart of Historic Downtown Beaufort, SC will serve as the backdrop for the Garden Parties. Tabby Garden is a grand, outdoor garden courtyard, where guests will enjoy dining in the open air, under the stars and café lights. All outdoor furnishings are generously provided by EventWorks Rentals. Tables, chairs, couches, and bars will be socially distanced so all guests will feel comfortable during their culinary experience.

The spotlight culinarian for the opening weekend (September 24 – 26) of the Garden Parties is Signature Catering & Events. Following the theme of the Reimagined Shrimp Festival, guests will sip and savor coastal cocktails and cuisines. Each evening will have a different menu to choose from and great entertainment. Enjoy the talent, sheer intensity, and musical innovation of nationally renowned “Synergy Twins” on Thursday and Friday evening. Closing out the weekend will be “Low County Boil” a local favorite known for their bluegrass originals and western swing. In addition to the included drinks in a ticket purchase, a beer and wine bar will be accepting cash and card.

Molly Kennedy, Director of Sales at Signature Catering and Events says, “We are very excited! Our team of professional chef’s, award-winning mixologists, and brilliant event planners have carefully crafted three evenings of mouth-watering recipes, amazing entertainment, and savory sweets. We have participated in many food and wine festivals in the past, but these Garden Parties will provide a more intimate experience and opportunity to serve hearty portions of some of our best meals.”

As an added bonus, guests who book direct and choose to reserve a two-night stay at The Beaufort Inn through the Garden Party package, will receive exclusive discounts to the Garden Parties. As part of the reimagined Shrimp Festival, many area businesses are participating by offering guests unique experiences. The Beaufort Inn is launching the Garden Parties as part of the Reimagined Shrimp Festival with anticipation of being an on-going series.

The final weekend to experience the Beaufort Garden Parties as part of the Reimagined Shrimp Festival will be October 1-3. Downtown Catering & Events will be the spotlight culinarian on October 1st and is excited to share their flavorful dishes, drinks, and entertainment.
