The Beaufort Film Society is pleased to present the 15th annual Beaufort International Film Festival (BIFF) February 15-19, 2021. Our 2020 festival welcomed approximately 17,400 attendees to Beaufort for 6 fun filled days of movie watching and star gazing, all with the beautiful backdrop of the marshes of the Carolina Sea Islands. Come experience what has been called by many as the “best little film festival in the southeast.” In February 2018, BIFF was selected by the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) as a Top 20 Event which brings publicity and recognition to the best events in the Southest. The STS represents 12 southern states and is dedicated to promoting and developing tourism in its member states. As of August 2020, BIFF was ranked by filmmakers as one of the TOP 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals by FilmFreeway.
NEW THIS YEAR, the Opening Ceremony, all screenings, screenwriters workshop and Awards Ceremony will be held in one location in order to better comply with COVID 19 restrictions. BIFF 2021 will be a total of 5 days. The Schedule of Events and Screening Times will be determined once finalists are identified.
Awards will be presented in the categories of Feature Film, Documentary – Short and Feature Length, Animation, Short Films, Student Films, and Screenplays. We will also have the Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor categories and the ever popular audience voted awards -Audience Choice and Best Comedy. We have created a new category Duty & Honor this year to celebrate our men and women in uniform. This category will stand alone from the other categories in that it will consist of films that are 40 minutes (short film requirements) or less and reflect positively on the service and sacrifices of our United States Military, Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue personnel and other First Responders and their families.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday, February 15th @ 6:00 pm at Tabby Place located at 913 Port Republic Street, Downtown Beaufort. New this year, we will be screening a film on Opening Night. Dress code: Business casual. NO TICKETS SALES AT THE DOOR FOR THE OPENING CEREMONY.
Screenings will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at Tabby Place located at 913 Port Republic Street, Downtown Beaufort. All films will be in block format to allow for substantial breaks for cleaning and sanitizing. Block tickets as well as day passes will be offered once the finalists and the schedule of events have been announced.
The Pre-Awards Champagne Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, February 19th at Tabby Place located at 913 Port Republic Street, Downtown Beaufort. Time: 6:00 pm AWARDS start at 7:00 pm.
