Beaufort Inn Wellness Retreat

On September 12-15, 2017, Escape to the Best Small Town in the South and enjoy a 3 night stay at The Beaufort Inn, located in the heart of historic downtown Beaufort. The peaceful gardens and picturesque landscapes make for a great backdrop to your wellness retreat, led by ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist, Tammy Randolph.

Tammy has carefully curated wellness sessions for people in all stages of practice, making sure to leave plenty of time to explore Beaufort and add on an optional activity.

The scope of the sessions of the Wellness Retreat is designed to expose and engage participants to information and activity in all areas of well-being. Sessions have dual purpose; each activity will include a combination of physical, mental and social components. This two-day event will expose participants to a variety of health and wellness sessions aimed to achieve overall wellness when continued through lifestyle modification.

Day 1:

1:30pm-3pm: Paddle Boarding at Beaufort Marina
5-6:30pm: Group Dinner
7-8:30pm: Mindful Meditation Seminar

Day 3:
7-7:50am: Restorative Yoga
8-8:50am: Breakfast and Social in Garden
9-9:50am Tai Chi
10-12pm: Open for Exploring, Journaling, or Optional Sessions
12-1:30pm: Lunch and Learn: Planning Your Eating Strategy
2-3:30pm: Fitness Walk and Learn: Getting the Most from your Fitness Tracker
4pm: Closing Reflections and Evaluations

Total cost of the Wellness Retreat, to include a 3 night stay at The Beaufort Inn with all the Amenities (breakfast vouchers redeemable at three local breakfast restaurants, afternoon delights, exceptional hospitality, and luxurious rooms) AND participation in the Wellness Retreat Program is $1000 (taxes and fees not included). For people traveling as a pair, there will be an additional $400 charge for the second person to participate in the wellness program.

About the Sessions

Wellness is defined by the World Health Organization as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Yoga: Participants will take part in both passive and active yoga disciplines through Yin and Restorative Yoga practices. These practices are modifiable for all fitness levels. The instructor will educate participants on the philosophy and benefits of the practice and will lead the group in a structured practice consisting of an hour session daily.

Group exercise: Participants will take part in a one- hour group exercise session daily which will include a combination of cardiovascular and strength training, followed by a recovery flexibility component. All exercises are modifiable for all fitness levels.

Outdoor recreation: Participants will take part in an outdoor recreation session which will incorporate physical activity with outdoor pursuits such as paddleboarding, kayaking, walking, or bicycling. This activity provides the participants with an alternative touring method of Beaufort.

Meditation seminar: Participants will take part in a 90 minute meditation seminar which presents the evidence on the effects of mindful meditation on health and wellness, followed by practice and reflection.

Nutrition/education seminar: Participants will enjoy a healthy continental style breakfast, morning and mid-day snack, as well as boxed lunches for both days. Cali Caulder of Clean Eatz will present “Planning your eating strategy,” discussing the benefits of meal prep and proper macronutrient balance.

Optional massage/health and fitness assessment: Participants will have the option to enjoy an in-room massage or full health and wellness assessment (including postural assessment and movement screen, body composition testing, and cardiovascular fitness.) Participants taking part in a health and wellness screen will be presented with a customized exercise protocol tailored to his or her individual needs. A fee schedule for these optional services can be found below and should be added at the time of registration. Please let The Beaufort Inn know if you're interested in adding one of these options onto your package and we will assist in coordinating.

  • $110 Deep Tissue Massage (60 minutes)
  • $95 Traditional Swedish Massage (60 minutes)
  • $110 Cupping, Reflexology (60 minutes)
  • $150 Health and Fitness Assessment with program design

*Group dining: Participants will enjoy a healthy plated dinner which includes a healthy combination of macronutrients with anti-inflammatory properties on day two. (Partnership with downtown establishment—early seating at 5p. Set menu with a dish which allows both vegetarian/non-vegetarian options. Included in package price.)

Tammy Randolph, Director of Recreation and Wellness, Spring Island, SC
Tammy is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine. Her passion for greater professionalism and certification in the field led her to study Exercise Science at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. That pursuit of higher education continued to include graduate work in Athletic Training and continued focus on advanced myoskeletal therapies. Consequently, she now has a solid educational foundation in injury prevention and rehabilitation, muscular and cardiovascular strength training, nutrition and health and wellness promotion. She stays current on the latest trends and research in exercise science, and incorporates findings into her approach to program development, training and education. Tammy is also certified as a Level 1 Exercise Professional through Titleist Performance Institute, and regularly teaches classes to advance the skills of community athletes. As the Director of Recreation and Wellness at Spring Island, she brings together a team of exceptional professionals to promote lifestyle strategies to achieve whole wellness through her acclaimed community programs. She was awarded the 2014 Distinguished Achievement in Private Club Wellness Services through the Boardroom Magazine.
Tammy lives in beautiful Beaufort, South Carolina and is the proud mother of two daughters, Alexis and Marah.
